The Lightwood Consultancy
Driving Digital Adoption in Agriculture
The Lightwood Consultancy was founded in 2005 to provide business and technology management services to Australian agriculture and is committed to driving on-farm digital adoption, in order to enable the transition at scale to sustainable practice change.
The future of farming is based on data-driven decisions yet the uptake of digital adoption is sub-optimal as we don’t just seem to be addressing the core issues. Most often the current situation is that farmers are ‘drowning in information yet starving for knowledge’.
At best estimate, the conversion of pre-season planning information to ‘as-applied’ records across the year is less than 30%; we have to do better.

The Future of Farming
Driving the narrative around what the future of farming looks like on-farm, at a pragmatic level. For mainstream agriculture, not just the top 5% of innovators.

Data-Driven Agriculture
Driving digital adoption at scale, will mean many new and highly innovative solutions in ag-tech can be deployed. Yet today, most of those solutions just simply don’t talk to each other.

Bridging the Gap
So how do we bridge the gap? We drive adoption at a foundational level by defining the fundamental ecosystem for each farm, that is required to ensure closed-loop recording and reporting to occur.

the master checklist
The Master Checklist creates a consistent structure for collecting information and linking seasonal decisions to paddock evidence, costs, market signals and risk triggers.
It improves financial visibility, strengthens compliance readiness and provides the foundation for automation across farm management, accounting, payroll, irrigation, supplier and compliance systems.
Once connected, it can reduce manual handling and support faster reporting, alerts, financial summaries, emissions statements and audit preparation.

The Industry Innovator Group brings together farmers, agronomists, consultants, developers and other industry people to work on real problems together.
Members will identify a small number of pressing challenges, test ideas, shape practical solutions and provide honest feedback on whether they deliver genuine value.
Too often, people raise problems but feel no one is listening. The IIG creates a direct path to the people, skills and partnerships needed to turn good ideas into practical outcomes.
If the group helps make life easier for people across the industry, it will have achieved what it set out to do.
